Reiki Empowerments are sent out most weeks with the intention that anyone who wishes to receive this connection can tune in at any time on any day.
Simply sit with your hands in Gassho position ( Palms together fingers pointing upwards) and say/ feel/intend `I am ready to receive the Reiki Empowerment from Matariki now’ … and see what happens…
The reason for you to have your hands in this position is that towards the end of the empowerment I cup my hands over yours in order to connect them to the energy flow … so that Reiki will flow from your hands.
I act as a conduit for the energy.
These empowerments which I am giving are exactly what I do when I connect someone to Reiki at Reiki 1. The only difference is that I am not doing it in person … however this makes no difference as far as Reiki is concerned. It is exactly the same as if I was right there in person connecting you to Reiki in this same way.
Usually if you were to be connected to Reiki at what is called `Reiki 1′ you would receive 3 or 4 of these empowerments and quite often the Reiki Master who connected you to Reiki would then send you weekly empowerments just like the ones which you are tuning into now. This is to strengthen the connection… and also, like anything, it takes some practice. The connection can be slight at first … like the dripping of a tap … however the more you use it the stronger the flow becomes. You can try it on yourself just by placing your hands on or above your head… you will soon begin to feel the energy flow.
So … this is more than simply receiving Reiki … it is connecting you to Reiki so that you can use the Reiki for yourself.
It is not necessary to be previously attuned to Reiki or to have received Rejui empowerments before …the energy will connect you and work just the same.

I am very new to understanding Reiki, however I have had one Reiki session which did lead to a ‘release’ while in the company of the practitioner. I am reading this portion of your blog to gain a clearer understanding and I thank you for sending out Reiki empowerments. The only question I have come up with is how long do you recommend remaining in position, with hands together pointing upward after saying,” I am ready to receive Reiki empowerment from Matariki now?”
I will also help me, as I am still learning, what I may experience. I already have an influx of energies coming into my heart chakkra and throat chakkras. The throat is very uncomfortable.and has been for well over a week but as an example, will I possibly experience an increase in energies in these areas or will I experience a new energy in my crown chakkra after receiving the Reiki empowerments you have sent out? Thanks for your comments …. Regarding how long the empowerment lasts … well .. I have left time out of the equation because although the actual empowerment itself takes me about 10 minutes to perform the effects of the energy may last a little longer .. so it is a case of feeling the energy and feeling when it has subsided for you.
When I give someone a Reiki empowerment ( which is the equivalent to the western idea of a reiki attunement ) I usually say that I will place my hand on their shoulder at some point and it is then that they can put their hands in the Gassho position ( prayer position) … As I am doing this by distance I cannot do this .. so I just ask that your hands are in this position all the way through so that I can cup my hands over yours to intend that reiki will flow through your hands.
It is best not to have any pre-conceived ideas about where else you may feel the energy … rather that you state your intent to receive the empowerment and be open to the energy flow.
It is best to get the mind out of the way … to relax and to feel …whatever you feel. Nothing is right or wrong in what feelings you may experience … however you are receiving a Reiki empowerment and you will be connected to reiki.
It is all about the intent.

Thank you for your prompt response and I must say, I think I spoke too soon as not long after I requested the reiki empowerment and wrote to you out of curiosity concerning what to expect, did I begin to receive an influx of energy into my throat and heart chakkras which I had already felt slightly buzzing with energy but now its almost too much to the point of discomfort. My ears were also ringing with an energy frequency, similar to that which occurs when the blood rushes to your head prior to fainting…that sound. That has stayed the same but I am unsure what to do with the added energy as well as how to make it bearable? Should I meditate further, maybe go for a walk?

The general energies at the moment are fairly intense … so I would relax and breath. If you feel drawn to go for a walk do …
Whatever you feel guided to do .. although possibly have a rest from meditating for now and simply BE … until you are feeling more equilibrium.
My ears have been ringing a great deal today as well ….with the higher frequencies coming in. It is has been an intense few days.
Drink lots of water, breathe … and relax.
